Cooper Davis’ career inside the arenas has officially come to an end, but his connection to the PBR is far from over. The 2016 World Champion and a key member of the 2025 PBR Teams championship roster has announced his retirement from professional competition and has been named to a new leadership role with the Carolina Cowboys.
Beginning next season, Davis will join the Cowboys’ front office as Assistant General Manager, working alongside General Manager Austin Dillon, the 2018 Daytona 500 champion. Together, they will play an active role in roster construction and long-term strategy as the Cowboys pursue a historic milestone: becoming the first team to successfully defend a PBR Teams title since the league’s launch in 2022.
A native of Jasper, Texas, Davis built a steady rise through the PBR ranks after debuting in 2012. By 2014, he had earned his place among the sport’s elite. His breakthrough came in 2015 with a victory at the PBR World Finals, followed by a defining 2016 season in which he captured the World Championship despite battling a broken collarbone. The title was sealed with a crucial ride aboard Catfish John, cementing his legacy against a field of top contenders.
Throughout his career, Davis established himself as one of the most respected and consistent competitors in the organization. He qualified for the PBR World Finals eight times and delivered some of the highest-scoring rides in the sport, including a standout 94-point performance in 2021. Following the 2023 season, he stepped away from individual competition to focus exclusively on PBR Teams.
The final chapter came in 2025, when Davis helped lead the Carolina Cowboys to a championship victory in Las Vegas. Now, stepping away from competition, he begins a new phase of his career—bringing his experience, leadership, and competitive mindset to the Cowboys’ front office.
