Cody Teel and Round Winners Secure Spots in Calgary Stampede Bull Riding Semifinals

The Calgary Stampede saw the completion of the first of three pools on Sunday, determining the first group of qualifiers for Championship Sunday. This year’s format differs slightly from previous years, with three pools of ten athletes competing for twelve semifinal spots in each event. Advancement to the semifinals is based on the total payoff over three rides/runs, and each round winner now receives $7,000 instead of the previous $5,500.

In the bull riding event, Cody Teel had a flawless performance, going 3-for-3 and securing his spot in the next round. He will be joined by the round winners JC Mortensen, Daylon Swearingen, and Jestyn Woodward.

Second Round:

  1. Daylon Swearingen scored 87.50 points on Calgary Stampede’s Armed & Dangerous, earning $9,083.
  2. Cooper Davis scored 86.00 points, earning $7,583.
  3. Cody Teel scored 84.00 points, earning $6,583. No other rides qualified.

Third Round:

  1. Jestyn Woodward scored 87.50 points on Macza Pro Rodeo’s Red Rocker, earning $7,000.
  2. Jeff Askey scored 84.50 points, earning $5,500.
  3. Cody Teel scored 84.00 points, earning $4,500.
  4. JC Mortensen and Dakota Buttar both scored 82.00 points, earning $2,625 each.
  5. Daylon Swearingen scored 81.00 points, earning $1,000.
