The Calgary Stampede saw the completion of the first of three pools on Sunday, determining the first group of qualifiers for Championship Sunday. This year’s format differs slightly from previous years, with three pools of ten athletes competing for twelve semifinal spots in each event. Advancement to the semifinals is based on the total payoff over three rides/runs, and each round winner now receives $7,000 instead of the previous $5,500.
In the bull riding event, Cody Teel had a flawless performance, going 3-for-3 and securing his spot in the next round. He will be joined by the round winners JC Mortensen, Daylon Swearingen, and Jestyn Woodward.
