UFC Maverick Takes on PBR Bull: Cowboy Cerrone’s Bold Rodeo Showdown with Twisted Steel

by rodeowins

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, the renowned former UFC fighter, is gearing up for an exhilarating challenge at the PBR World Finals in Texas this May. The fearless Cowboy will go head-to-head with Dana White’s Twisted Steel, a bull owned by UFC President Dana White, in an event set to captivate rodeo enthusiasts.

The news was unveiled by Dana White on his social media last Tuesday and promptly confirmed by Sean Gleason, the president of PBR. Cerrone, known for his passion for bull riding since his teenage years, will take on the challenge with a guaranteed purse of $50,000, with the opportunity to double it to $100,000 if he manages to hold on for the full eight seconds.

The seasoned ex-fighter, now at 40 years old, expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge and announced that he will donate the proceeds to an institution his children are involved with. To prepare adequately, Cerrone will receive training and guidance from respected figures such as Ross Coleman and two-time world champion José Vitor Leme, along with other athletes and former athletes from the arena with whom he maintains close ties.

Over the past weekend, Cerrone made a presence at the PBR event in New York, engaging in promotional activities with Monster Energy, his sponsor and PBR partner. During the event, Cerrone confidently declared his readiness for the challenge, which was officially confirmed four days later.

Twisted Steel, Dana White’s bull, boasts a career of 34 outings, with only three qualified rides in the PBR. The showdown between Cerrone and his ex-boss’s bull promises to be a highly anticipated event, garnering extensive media coverage. Cerrone, who concluded his UFC career in 2022, will finally have the chance to fulfill his dream of facing a top-tier PBR bull, a feat that was consistently thwarted during his active career due to the risks of injuries and fractures, following Dana White’s guidance.
